Welcome to Transforming Care’s blog- Care: Crucial Conversations

Here at Transforming Care we are concerned about social distance-the continuing legacy of institutionalization that has lingered for far too long.  We persist in separating and isolating rather than including people who need long term care.  We would like to see individuals who have disabilities and the aging fully represented in the fabric of our society -living, working and  volunteering in their own communities -adding their unique essence.  By joining Transforming Care you can decrease the social distance experienced by our marginalized citizens.

How can we transform care?

  • By acknowledging that institutions don’t care for people- people do.

  • By recognizing that vulnerability is a part of our shared humanity and experiencing and responding to vulnerability helps us grow.

  • By reaching out to people who need care and engaging in a mutually beneficial, authentic relationships.
